An Elizabethan Bestiary: Retold was published in 1997. Rather quickly we sold all one thousand copies (aided by our decision to donate 200 copies to a variety of public libraries). We do hope to combine forces with another publisher in the near future to see a larger, second printing take place.

The book features an extraordinary essay by poet Jeffery Beam who provides a history of Bestiaries and their use through the years, and explains how his poems are shorter cullings from the original much longer prose bestiaries.

Ippy Patterson, who is not only a prolific visual artist working in a variety of media, but lives just a couple bird calls from Jeffery, made the amazing pen and ink illustrations with an astonishing level of detail. Half of the creatures in the book are true animals, and half are well, more mythological beasts, or creatures of the imagination.
