Literary event organized by Chris Vitiello as part of the Read Local Literary Festival which H&B helped organize and sponsor. Proof that an 8.5 x 11 flyer can be visually arresting AND carry a lot of information.
Broadsheet. One of my strengths is making information heavy projects look attractive and be easy to quickly discern and read the information. This is the inside of the opened up broadsheet that Full Frame inserted in the local newsweekly.
As well as being a co-sponsor of the festival, H&B has designed the program guides and posters for Click! since 2015. 12 x 18 inch poster.

12 x 18 inches.
A keepsake for the donors to the impressive library renovation. The background is a combination of a photograph I made inside the entrance and an elevation drawing of the iconic windows. A mix of digital and letterpress printing.

Five color letterpress broadside printed in an edition of 500 to celebrate the market’s ten year anniversary. Just as an ear of corn is composed of many small kernels, a farmers’ market is composed of many small farms (listed in the background by the order in which they first joined the market). The wood engraving by Josef Beery, with its state of shucking, implies an action, ‘harvest,’ as much as it says ‘corn.‘
Interspersing two different text excerpts from the book and activating the "voice" by utilizing a different typeface and color for each excerpt. Digital pictures of this don't do justice to the amazing depth of the image and the tactileness of the printmaking grade paper and letterpress impression.
Retirement present for outgoing book design department head at Duke Press. Printmaking grade paper beautifully shows off the letterpress "blind impression" (no ink) of the waterfall type element.
Poster plays off the recycle/reuse theme of the art exhibit it promoted. Background is the table top of my ink mixing table which itself was rescued from the back of an old printing plant. Digitally printed. 12 x 18 inches.
Colorful energy of a peloton from 2005. 8.5 x 11 inches. Digitally printed. We like to think we helped speed up the city and the DOT putting in bike lanes, paved shoulders, sharrows, and other much needed and long overdue cycling infrastructure in these parts.
Digitally printed poster for a month-long art project that took Durham by storm in 2006.
Keepsake commission by the North Carolina Writers Network as they honored Allan Gurganus as keynote speaker/featured author for the annual conference.
